Executive Director, Tracy Hames and staff help individuals and communities throughout Wisconsin gain the knowledge and guidance needed to protect and care for their local wetlands.  Before returning to Wisconsin in 2011, Tracy worked for over 20 years as a waterfowl biologist managing a large public hunting program, and protecting, restoring and managing watershed-scale wetland projects in cold water streams on the Yakama Indian Reservation in eastern Washington state.  Tracy obtained a BA from Macalester College in 1984, and an MS in Natural Resources from the University of Wisconsin – Stevens Point in 1990.

Presentation: Wetlands and Cold Water Resources

Wetlands are important landscape features helping manage the water that flows through our watersheds. This presentation will address how wetlands help reduce surface water runoff into our trout streams, how they help reduce the flows that cause bank erosion, and their role in maintaining groundwater levels and base flow.
