2nd Annual Youth Fishing Camp

From Council Chair Linn Beck:

With a very successful 2014 youth camp in the books we are excited to announce the plans for our second annual camp.

The camp will be in the same great location as last year, Pine Lake Bible camp between Wild Rose and Waupaca. The accommodations were suburb and the camp grounds themselves served our purpose very well. This year’s dates are Thursday July 16th thru Sunday July 19th. Check in will be from 1:00 to 3:00 on Thursday and we will wrap up on Sunday around noon.

We will be using the same format as last year with the chapter’s sponsoring the youth. The costs will be the same, $250.00 per youth. The only change we have made is that we will only be able to take 16 youth. We will have open enrollment for all chapters to have the opportunity to sponsor a youth. The open enrollment period for all chapters will last until April 15th, after that the enrollment will be open for all chapters to sponsor multiple youth. As we know last year several chapters sponsored 3 youth and a couple more sponsored 2 each. We would like to fill the camp again this year. Application forms and waiver forms are available by contacting Bob Haase or Linn Beck. Our contact information will be at the end of this article.

The qualifications for the youth are the same as last year. It is open to any youth between the ages 12 and 16. We do have female counselors and instructors on staff so we are encouraging chapters to sponsor any and everyone. If you know of any youth that qualifies and you would like for them to attend please contact your local chapters, and if you don’t know who to contact again please contact Bob Hasse or Linn Beck.

Our format will still basically be the same, with classes on all types of fishing, spin, fly and bait. Also there will be classes on knot tying, fly tying, and lure making. The camp will wrap up with a guided fishing excursion on Sunday morning.

Volunteers needed also…..

We are also looking for volunteers that would like to help out at the camp or come and learn more about the opportunities for getting our youth involved. It doesn’t make a difference of your skill set, just a willing to learn yourselves and also to help the youth learn. If you are interested and can make it for the weekend the Wisconsin state council will be picking up the costs for meals and lodging. Or if you can only help out individual days we will be glad to have you come out.

If you have any questions or for applications and waiver forms please contact.
