Lobby Day fast approaching

A message from Staush Gruszynski (member, WITU Council Legislative Committee):

Dear Wisconsin Trout Unlimited members:

In all of the years of Conservation Lobby Day, it has never been more critical to get our coalition of conservation groups to the Capitol to advocate for Wisconsin's conservation legacy. This year's Conservation Lobby Day will focus on key issues in the proposed state budget, including protecting the Stewardship Program, maintaining citizen oversight of the DNR, preserving DNR science staff, and funding programs that help protect clean water across the state. I hope that you plan to attend and invite your members to attend, as well.

I hope to see you and members of your chapter at Conservation Lobby Day on April 14th. Please see below for details. Register Here.

Join Wisconsin League of Conservation Voters and fellow sportsmen and women for Conservation Lobby Day 2015. It's your chance to head to the Capitol to talk with your elected officials about the conservation issues that matter most – and make sure they know what's at stake!

This year’s program will focus on the budget's slashes to the programs and departments that protect our air, land, and water, including:

·  The Stewardship Program, which is responsible for purchasing and protecting some of our most vital and vulnerable lands and waters;

·  The staff scientists at Department of Natural Resources, who conduct research to help set sound management practices for our natural resources;

·  County Conservationists, who serve as our first line of defense against polluters;

·  The Natural Resources Board, consisting of informed Wisconsinites who provide important citizen oversight to the DNR.

Soon our decision makers will be charged with revising and voting on the budget, and it's up to us to make sure they know that there's a lot hanging in the balance. We'll make sure you have all the information you need to bring these key issues to the attention of your elected officials.

With hunters, parents, hikers, scientists, anglers, environmentalists, and more joining together from across the state, we can send a powerful message to legislators: Wisconsinites stand behind clean air, clean water, and plentiful lands – and the programs that protect them.

Thank you for being a conservation voter. See you at Conservation Lobby Day on April 14!
